TV4 coming to Prime TV viewers

Regional viewers in NSW, Vic and the ACT are getting a channel that will be the "Home of Information, Education, Finance and Shopping."

Not too sure what to make of this Press Release, but it sounds like Prime TV regional viewers in NSW, Vic and the ACT will be getting their very own advertorial / TV shopping style channel.

It says it’s the “Home of Information, Education, Finance and Shopping.” No room for E-n-t-e-r-t-a-i-n-m-e-n-t?

It’s by a group called Brand New Media and there is currently a test ID on Channel 64.

Brand New Media will launch a new regional datacasting service called TV4 for Victoria, ACT and New South Wales this Sunday September 18.

Nicole Cusack, Integration and Marketing Manager for Brand New Media told Mediaweek the station would be broadcast on Channel 64, in partnership with the Prime network.

“We’ll have quite a variety of of programming, from information to short-form entertainment to how-to style shows,” she noted. The channel will be broadcast 24/7 to a potential audience of 4.7 million in over 1.8 million homes.

Brand New Media specialises in the production of content for brands and broadcasters and they have worked with advertisers to put together content for the channel, while other programs have been directly supplied.

One interesting addition is the educational programming from the University of New South Wales who have put together a series, with each episode looking at a different faculty in the university. It will feature not only the different courses on offer but also a guide to student life. “It’s really good for institutes to be on there because they’re all trying to get students from the regional areas into Sydney or Melbourne to study,” said Cusack.

  1. What on earth were the people at Prime Television thinking when they decided allowed such a channel full of boring shopping adds?

PRIME should give us a channel full of entertainment not boring infomercials encouraging people to waste their money on junk.

  2. This is absolutely awful and a complete waste of time…. Wall to wall infomercials. I doubt this will be sustainable. No one will watch this channel let alone buy the rubbish being advertised ad nauseam.

Call now to take advantage of this very special offer!!

  3. Probably not a lot of people still reading this thread but seeing as you said you’d be interested in hearing from viewers…I turned on this channel a few times over the past couple of days and it’s nothing but those pathetic infomercials for ab machines etc, interspersed with cheaply made and shot Australian versions where there’s a pseudo interview with someone pushing a product.
Absolute rubbish and I wonder why they would even bother. Is there really an audience who would choose to sit and watch a channel full of this?!

Not a lot of useful information there as yet, however.
