AFL Grand Final: guide

And here is the running order for the AFL's big day.

TEN ends its ten year broadcast of the AFL with that one day in October, a battle between Collingwood and Geelong.

Meatloaf is performing after 1:30pm and Vanessa Amorosi will sing the National Anthem at 2:27pm (and please, no complaints that it isn’t sing-along enough?).

Here is the running order for the day.

Network TEN will bring viewers the very best in AFL Grand Final day coverage from 10am – 6.30pm as, after ten years, we broadcast the AFL for the very last time.

Boasting more cameras than ever before and with over 180 crew working on the day, the coverage will be hosted by Stephen Quartermain and Anthony Hudson with expert commentary by Luke Darcy and Matthew Lloyd.

With all of our AFL commentators on ground for the day, we will look back at TEN’s greatest moments from the last 10 years.

Sprinkled throughout the coverage will be a variety of flashbacks to the last nine Grand Finals – the highs, the lows and those moments that are ensconced in AFL Grand Final history.

The coverage will also boast, for the first time, an outside studio. Hosted by Gorgi Coghlan and Charlie Pickering, a number of special guests will drop by to talk all things AFL.

  1. What happen to the Grand Final breakfast? That’s one of the main highlights for me. I don’t mean the thing 9 does, but the one with the Prime Minister and Opposition, etc and they walk into a song that pokes some fun at them and then later make a speech about the Grand Final.

Was really disappointed to turn it on and find some childrens programming. I remember they’ve taken that off for all other times for the breakfast so not sure what went on this time.

  2. More cameras than ever…yet none are HD.

And what a disgrace to turn their pre-game coverage into an advertorial for their upcoming shows. I’d expect that from 9 and 7 but not from 10.

  3. Watching tens preview of this years grand final is a joke so far. 50% of the first three hours are interviews about tens programs for the rest of 2011 and 2012. Tera nova, ytt, biggest looser, master chief. Let’s hope this does not continue for the rest of the day. Pity ten could not finish there ten years of afl with respect for the game

  4. How can Ten say in the press release that it is broadcasting the AFL “for the very last time”? The network should be proud that it has covered the competition for the past 10 years. It decided not to bid for the 2012-2016 rights because it considered it was too expensive. In 3-4 years’ time when the network’s financial situation improves, I think Ten will bid for part of the 2017-2021 broadcast rights. Ten is also keen to bid for the NRL rights, but that is another story.

  5. My favourite day of the year. And thanks so much for the detailed lineup David – I had read conflicting reports about the time of the bounce (particularly here in SA). And go the Pies!!! 🙂
