ABC1 is ramping up its foodie shows on Fridays with UK  lifestyle series Choccywoccydoodah (points for best title of the week), followed by The Good Cook featuring Simon Hopkinson (pictured).

Both will air from Friday October 14.

Choccywoccydoodah:
Imagine a world where everything you see is made of chocolate. In the English coastal town of Brighton there is a very magical chocolate shop, Choccywoccydoodah. This specialty shop produces seriously amazing cakes for a truly impressive list of celebrities. Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Sir Bob Geldof, Johnny Depp and Hugh Grant have all commissioned cakes from the Choccywoccydoodah shop. At up to two metres tall and with a price tag of a cool £9000, these cakes are works of art. Even Tim Burton called in the Choccywoccydoodah experts when he needed chocolate for his film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

When it comes to beautiful mega cakes, these guys are the best in the business and this series is going behind the scenes to get to know the creative forces behind the company. Meet the experts who have followed their passion for cakes and are now earning fame for their beautiful sculptures, distinctive designs and delicious recipes. These cakes are unique edible art and almost too beautiful to eat.

This week they’re under pressure to sculpt cakes for a soap star wedding and a glamorous event for prestigious shoes designer, Christian Louboutin.

The Good Cook:
Simon Hopkinson knows all about good food, and he knows what you need to make great meals in your own kitchen. A widely acclaimed chef and food writer, he draws on his years of experience and love of cooking to show how you can create restaurant quality food at home, with everyday ingredients. Along the way he reveals where and how to find the right produce, which ingredients it’s worth spending your money on and how to create exquisite meals using cheaper cuts and fabulous flavours instead of the latest food fads.

This week Simon demonstrates how to make a delicious yet simple pasta dish, scallops in a white butter sauce, his famous salad nicoise, a fantastic coq au vin and an irresistible sticky toffee pudding.

Across the series Simon will guide us through which ingredients he can’t live without and in this episode he shares his love for Italian porcini mushrooms and anchovies.
