Former Olympic swimmer Grant Hackett has spoken out after media reports that 8 police cars were called to his apartment in the early hours of Sunday morning to find the apartment in total disarray, including a grand piano overturned.
It followed the Wide World of Sports presenter hosting an event at Derby Day at Flemington.
Speaking to Nine News, a contrite Hackett said the matter was a private affair and that his wife, twins and apartment were 100% ok.
“It’s an unfortunate misunderstanding that we have to deal with,” he said.
“We came home and had a few private issues that we needed to deal with and we’ve dealt with those.”
The former Nine News sports presenter denied there had been a fight.
“A lot of it has been speculation and unfortunately we have to deal with the consequences now. But everything is ok, our relationship is great and everything in our apartment is ok as well.”
Police are investigating the incident but charges are not expected to be laid.

He heard his wife singing, trust me, it’s enough to send anyone barmy 😛
Paranormal Hack-tivity
Does the piano play the Last Post?
Oooh… to be a key on the piano in that apartment!
Blame the piano. It was highly strung!
That would have been the Steinway Boston GP-215 PE dodgy leg design prone to this kind of behaviour, should have went with the Model D a little more stable, much more expensive but not know for any embarrising flip overs.
They came home and the grand piano had flipped itself over? Something’s not right with that story.
He wasn’t a fan of Mozarts Concerto #5….. it wasn’t his freestyle.
Piano had it coming. Everybody knows that.
jeez…where are the 8 cop cars when someone is getting bashed in south melbourne just down the road….A …nowhere to be seen
Poor piano!
Now the rumour mill just gets hotter.
Two Words, High Maintenance.
Who amongst us hasn’t had “an unfortunate misunderstanding”?
Huh? 8 police cars. It also takes more than a few people to pick up a piano & overturn it! Obviously more than just playing music too loud.
Neither of them liked the piano?
