In the reshuffling of faces that is going on following TEN’s exit from AFL coverage, former Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd and TEN commentator has joined Nine’s AFL presenting team.
Lloyd, 33, will join Garry Lyon, James Brayshaw, Billy Brownless and Shane Crawford on the AFL Footy Show and will also be a regular panellist on The Sunday Footy Show.
Lloyd said: “I’m very happy to be joining Channel Nine. The Footy Show programs are established and dominate the footy landscape. I’m keen to add to the strength of these shows and continue my development as an analyst of the game working alongside Garry, James, Sam and the boys.”
GTV9’s Head of Content, Tim Cleary, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Matthew back to the network. Matthew has made the transition from AFL champion to media commentator quicker than most and his strong opinions and sharp insight into the game will complement our suite of footy shows.
“Even without the broadcast rights, Nine is the home to the two best experts in the game in Garry Lyon and Matthew Lloyd.”
Lloyd had also been a regular on The Game Plan and One Week at a Time for ONE, and the defunct Fox Footy’s White Line Fever.
