TEN has a new comedy project in development with Freehand.
Micro Nation is a series of 15 x 4.5 min interstitials for TV and online produced by Linda Ujuk, with Andrew Garrick as Head Writer / Director.
It will also air as a single television broadcast.
Yesterday Screen Australia announced it had received funding through its All Media Program, supporting narrative content that pushes the envelope of creative storytelling.
Here’s the synopsis:
The forgotten island nation of Pullamawang has seceded from mainland Australia and is home to a cast of larger-than-life characters including young citizen Emma who desperately wants to leave. The absurd habits and comfortable lives of the islanders are thrown into disarray and conflict by the discovery of diamonds, thwarting Emma’s dreams of escaping to the wider world.

@ Goonies:
hehe… thanks! Hehehe
I’m imagining the people having to say this in board-rooms while they divvy up funding.
@ expert – sound it out slowly
I don’t get it, what’s wrong with ‘Pullamawang’? Is it a real place?
I don’t think it’s “funny name” in Any language !
‘Pullamawang’? That’s hilarious. Is it ‘funny name’ in Aboriginal?
‘Pullamawang’?
I’m out.
this will tank. 4.5 minutes is not enough. It would only work as a webisode its not long enough for network tv.
Another *winner* from TEN.
We can’t deduce much from a synopsis. The test is in the tasting. Good on TEN for having a go.
Pullamawang? Oh dear…
