Zachary Quinto comes out

Actor Zachary Quinto has revealed he is gay in an interview with New York magazine.

Actor Zachary Quinto (Heroes, American Horror Story, Star Trek) has revealed he is gay in an interview with New York magazine.

Quinto casually dropped the detail while promoting his upcoming film Margin Call while referencing his recent eight-month stint in the stage production of Angels in America.

Quinto said that the Broadway role had made him realise how lucky he was to have been born before the AIDS crisis’ “decimation of an entire generation of amazingly talented and otherwise vital men” in the mid-’80s.

“And at the same time, as a gay man, it made me feel like there’s still so much work to be done, and there’s still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed,” he said.

The matter of fact remark comes less that a year after he shut down a conversation with that very same magazine after deeming some of the reporter’s questions too personal.

Quinto’s latest series, American Horror Story, begins on ELEVEN on November 1st.

  1. There are many times when personal aspects of personalities are reported, and I weigh them up on a case by case basis. Not every story will resonate with every reader, nor should it be expected to. There are over 18,000 posts here so even if it was an observation, there is only a small percentage that touch upon the same subject.

  2. Chillax, dudes. I wasn’t a criticism or a complaint. It was simply an observation. If you think reporting the sexual orientation of certain people in television is important, then that’s fine.

  3. An ABC News (US) presenter Dan Kloeffler has now come out following Quinto’s news.

“I’ve never shared that I’m gay on-air, even though I’ve been out to my family, friends and co-workers for years,” he wrote. “In fact, an old boyfriend — now best friend — has always given me a hard time about not doing so. But for the same reason that Zach decided to come out, I too, no longer wanted to hide this part of my life.

This again demonstrates why the first Quinto story was of note.

  4. Ergggh… why do people come on here to complain about the posts…? I find this story interesting and he’s a freakin TV actor, therefore I think it is completely relevant.
David don’t waste your time responding to the complainers, you’re doing a good job reporting on relevant info… so cheers
