ABC2 drops Look Both Ways

Confusion over the rights of Sarah Watt's Look Both Ways has led to ABC2 now dropping the film this Saturday night.

It was pretty confusing and something just didn’t add up.

How could ABC2 and SBS ONE both be playing Sarah Watt’s Look Both Ways this Saturday night?

ABC now advises “Confusion over broadcast rights to Look Both Ways has today resulted in ABC2 having to pull its planned Night With Sarah Watt.”

SBS, which commissioned the film, is now alone in playing the film at 10:20pm this Saturday. It already screened My Year Without Sex last Saturday.

ABC2 reverts to the following schedule:

Saturday, November 12
8.30pm Movie: Paths Of Glory
10.00pm Movie: Dr Strangelove
11.30pm Rock The Bells
1.15am Cherry’s Parenting Dilemmas

  1. Baz, you’re spot on!

ABC just happened to be interested in a movie SBS had the rights to, so clearly there’s no discernable difference between the two broadcasters. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been lost while channel surfing between the ABC & SBS channels because they both look & sound exactly the same! The same goes for their radio networks. Merge them! Baz, you’re the ideas man. [sarcasm]

  2. As sad as it is about the passing of Sarah Watt, I am glad ABC2 is reverting back to Paths of Glory on November 12 as it is a movie I have been waiting to see,

The DVD of Paths of Glory is available at my local library but I didn’t have the time to borrow it and I haven’t been there for quite a while now.

Hopefully my viewing of Paths of Glory will finally be rectified with ABC2.

  3. In addition to SBS actually commissioning Look Both Ways, 90% of films & general programming that Madman Entertainment (this being one) distributes seems to end up on SBS anyway. Madman also sells SBS branded DVDs too. Their relationship seems pretty strong. Looks like ABC have been sent packing? 😉

Me? If I’m home, ABC2’s airing of Dr Strangelove looks more compelling.

  4. So in other words, good news! SBS will pay tribute by screening the film with bonus interruptions for erectile dysfunction product ads!

Surely SBS could have let the ABC have this one.
