Ada Nicodemou to host Please Marry My Boy

Home & Away’s Ada Nicodemou will host Seven's new dating series with guys, girls, and a mother with an opinion.

Home & Away’s Ada Nicodemou will host Seven’s new dating series Please Marry My Boy.

The series gives four Aussie mums the power to find their unlucky-in-love sons the girl of their dreams.

Based on a UK format, it attracted plenty of laughs when a showreel was played to advertisers at Seven’s 2012 Programming Launch.

While the show includes speed dating, each male doesn’t realise his mother will choose his top three candidates. The girls are then told they are moving in with the mothers.

“Who doesn’t know a mum who dreams of her son meeting the perfect girl, falling in love and get married?” says Nicodemou.

“I’m always on the look-out for my single friends. I can’t help it – it’s the born match-maker in me. I’ll meet someone and immediately start making mental notes about why they would make a good partner.

“The mums we meet in the series are fantastic. They approach the task of finding a match for their sons with military precision. They know their sons better than anyone, so they have very firm ideas about the perfect mate. Their sons had better watch out!”

Produced by Granada Media Australia it airs in 2012.

  1. I wish I could get my son on that show instead of him play his playstation all night at 31. He is now relationship shy after his previous failed efforts with women. He still says he should have listened to me and not broken up with a certain girl. He is employed, kind, caring and quite good looking. Bring back arranged marriages I say for our boys and they will be a whole lot better off with two women guiding and looking after them. After all they are only male.
How do I get him on the show?

  2. Vicki – I agree, I think such shows wouldl have far more credibility if they covered the disabled. I think non-disabled individuals (like myself) would be open to a relationship with someone with a physical disability (because it’s, obviously, possible to be attractive anyway) – but the disabled often don’t get the chance to have a wide social circle or to meet people. It would be compelling viewing as well.

  3. Maybe this show could find someone for my son. he is almost 34. He has a wonderful personality and he longs for the day that he has a girlfriend and dreams of romancing her, getting married and maybe having children. His real problem is he suffers with cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair which makes him too scared too ask them out thinking they wouldn’t be interested in him because of his disability. He is a little overweight and is quite handsome. Maybe some of these shows should include disabled people to really give them some credibility. Lets see if they are up to the challenge????

  4. shall be interesting…. I personal know a ‘ Boy & his Mother’ staring in this show. I didn’t know he was ‘unlucky in love!’ he always seem a nice guy to me….. his mother on the other hand…. well….thats whole other story!!
Good luck to him anyway…I’ll be watching! 🙂

  5. @Andrew,spot on. Last time I checked, marriage was still a sacrament that is meant be taken seriously but a show like Four Weddings is completely disrespectful and treats weddings like they are parties that are there to be trashed and mocked. It is such a shameful program. Hopefully, this show won’t be as contemptible, but I understand your point, it’s a good one.

  6. no offence but does anyone else think that the casting of the host and potential casts is going to be very stereotypically cast? geez i bet you anything that there’s going to be an obnoxious mother…and a skanky woman…etc.

  7. More LCD TV (lowest common denominator television) from the FTA networks. If its not tired and contrived “reality” formats from overseas its dated embarassments like Its Knockout and Hey Hey its Wednesday/Saturday. No wonder nobody is watching anymore.

  8. Am I imagining that there has already been a show with this premise of neurotic mothers marrying off their sons that aired recently? This show sounds awful, real barrel scraping of the reality genre. And Ada won’t host it, I bet, she will just be the voice over narration a la Manu on Dinner Date.

  9. Oh 7 what are you doing. There was a show late on 7 was it called mammas boys lasy year and it was horrendous. I only saw the one ep and one of the mothers was awful. She was racist, mean and just horrible.

Please tell me this wont be shown in prime time. I bet will be though.
