Deni Hines fired from Celebrity Apprentice

Mark Bouris fired one of Celebrity Apprentice‘s two “villains” last night when Deni Hines was sent packing from the show.

Hines was eliminated over teammates Lisa Curry and Pauline Hanson, deemed to have mismanaged her team at Monday night’s challenge.

For many viewers it was doubtless her Reality TV ‘come-uppance’ after considerable online chat that her demeanour was not resonating. At a previous challenge for KFC, Hines declined to sing a jingle arguing she was ‘protecting my brand.’

She also questioned the liberal use of the phrase ‘Celebrity’ applied to anybody who has been on TV for more than 5 minutes.

That challenge saw former Block contestant Polly Porter fired by Bouris last week.

Since then Hines has attracted much negative comment that would suggest she has damaged her brand in unexpected ways. Reality Television is a fickle game.

Today she tells the Daily Telegraph, “I can’t wait for this shit to get off the air, so people can stop picking on me.

“For the first time in my life, my Twitter page was no.5 in Australia and not for nice things.”

Her firing now leaves the unstoppable Max Markson as the show’s biggest bad boy, unless the always-surprising Pauline Hanson can outrank him as the next villain. As Julia Morris tells us, she “likes to get the snake out.”

To her credit, Hines’ “Ignite” team had raised $47,400 for charity. But she was defiant to the end, insisting she had never been fired before and would never be able to work for anybody other than herself.

Brand intact?

  1. Actually Deni was one of the biggest Australian acts back in the early 90s – both as a solo artist and as a part of “The Rockmelons”. (She had about two or three massive hits with “The Rockmelons” before going solo hit with a top ten hit, “It’s Alright”, in 1995). But after the 90s finished, her career was just about dead.
People who can’t remember music before 2000 probably wouldn’t remember her – but back in the 90s, she wasn’t a “nobody”.
I think the fame must have just gone to her head.

  2. For the past decade, Deni has spent her time on cable music channels giving opinions during their various “countdowns”… she loathes Kylie, Dannii, Madonna, Britney… basically any other female act who has made a career for themselves and has done what she has failed to do.

She did have one small hit in Europe back in 1994/95, lets give her that.

  3. Glad that nasty piece of work has gone – I don’t think anyone will offer her a radio show or much else for that matter as there is a fine line between controversial and witty which people will tolerate, and straight out egotistical delusional behavior.

  4. Funny how Hines criticised ‘celebrity’ saying anyone can have that tag – it applies to her perfectly. Famous for 5 minutes only because of her mother. When did she release any music of her own that did well?

  5. Deni should have been fired during the first week but she made for great TV which is why this is a loss to the show’s entertainment value. That said she raised funds for her charity and once a contestant has helped their cause it makes sense for them to be bumped off to give greater oppurtunity to those that haven’t earnt any donations yet.

That said if they fire Didier I’m not sure I’ll ever watch Nine again. Am I right boys? Not so much with the hair on the show but when he’s got that shaved head, forget about haha

  6. I’d heard her name a few times before seeing her on the show and I’d guessed she was a singer due to her mother, but to call her a celebrity is a bit of stretch in my view. She’s just ridden off her mother’s name it would seem.

Anyway now she has her chance at actually doing something and becoming a celebrity and i’m thinking a radio DJ. She could become the female equivalent of Kyle Sandilands, after all everyone seems to hate her, she’s great at putting others down and she has a mean streak to her, so it makes perfect sense when you think about it…

  7. Once racist Pauline Hanson is given the boot I may just start watching this rubbish!!

Scratch that, I won’t. There’s better things to do than invest 7 hours a week into more of Nine’s lowest common denominator shit

  8. Polly isn’t a celeb either.

I loved it when she says Mr Bouris “invited me” to come on the show. I think you would find it was a decision by channel 9. Also, big deal she won a reality show which isn’t like the real world with property renovations and so called final “profit”.

Denni is also a nothing in a celeb stakes these days. On the whole this show is pretty stupied with the fake secretary for the Hotel Menzies filming. Also how they call him Mr Bouris, I have never called my boss Mr so and so.

  9. I didn’t enjoy Deni that much.. she came off as very arrogant..

But the person I can’t stand the most is the receptionist! Do we really need the “Mr Bouris will see you now” ??
