Farewell Postcards SA

After 16 years, South Australia's Postcards airs its final episode.

After 16 years, South Australia’s Postcards airs its final episode today.

The state travel show was announced as ending by WIN TV management in July.

Host Keith Conlon says he and his co-presenters, Ron Kandelaars, Lisa McAskill and Amber Brown, “had an inkling” something was afoot.

“We were starting to get to the point of planning ahead, and we were asking questions and being told everything was under review,” Conlon says. “On the other hand, Postcards was going so well and was such an important beginning to the Sunday evening process for so many people. It was almost like ‘if you want to do it (continue filming), that would be marvellous’. Obviously things changed somewhere along the line.”

Presenter and former model Lisa McAskill, who has been with the program for 14 years told Adelaide Now, “We’ve kind of gone through our grieving process … You have to look back on how fantastic it’s been and what a wonderful job I’ve had, probably the best job in South Australia.”

Tonight’s final episode will be a reflection of the team’s highlights over the past 16 seasons, with trips back in time to the Barossa, Coorong, Goolwa and more.

“It’s a celebration of everything that makes SA great,” Conlon said.

The show bows out at 5pm Sunday on Nine.

  1. I loved Postcards, we travelled to many of the destinations shown. Thank you Keith & Co. We also sent your DVD’s overseas as gifts to relatives in far off lands!
Question: What was the song playing in the final credits it was lovely.

  2. Goodbye to a wonderful program.Thank you to the staff for the memories. Will another network take up the series so we can thumb our S.A. noses at the short sighted WIN Network . Just switched over to 7 news as the program finished

  3. sad to see it go.Again this was one of many of Nine Adelaide’s cost cutting measures over the years.

Now all of the Kids shows including the ones aimed at the mothers with Kindergarten Aged Children all come from somewhere interstate amongst many other things.

What would Kerry Packer think of all this if he was still alive today?
