Foxtel revamps AIR music channels

Foxtel has now revamped its AIR music service of 30 digital music channels with four new channels and three refreshed music channels.

As tipped, Foxtel yesterday revamped its AIR music service of 30 digital music channels with four new channels and three refreshed music channels.

The four new channels launching November 1 include SO FRESH (Channel 833), DIVAS (Channel 832), KIDS ZONE (Channel 841) and FASTERLOUDER (Channel 855):

SO FRESH: This new AIR channel will play songs from the biggest selling pop music compilation CD in the country. Sample play list includes Pink, Beyonce, Britney, Lady Gaga, and Black Eyed Peas.

DIVAS: Showcases the best female singer/songwriters on one compilation music channel. Sample play list includes artists such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Delta, Aretha Franklin, Shirley Bassey, Katy Perry, and Amy Winehouse.

KIDS ZONE: This channel will be a musical ‘safe zone’ for kids targeting different ages over different day parts. The format will be; Weekdays 9.00am to 3.00pm for 0‐4 years playing music from artists such as The Wiggles, The Fairies, Hi 5, Dora The Explorer, and Go, Diego Go; Weekdays 3.00pm for 4-11 years playing music from artists such as The Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, GLEE, Miranda Cosgrove, Abba, Guy Sebastian, and Delta Goodrem; and weekends and school holidays will be a refreshed mixed playlist for children aged 0-11 years.

FASTERLOUDER: FasterLouder is the leading live music website in Australia. Targeted at Triple J listeners, this channel will play indie skewed artists on rotation. Sample playlist includes as Boy & Bear, Cold War Kids, Death Cab for Cutie, Foster the People, Lykke Li, Tame Impala, The Kills, and The Middle East.

The three refreshed music channels include ROCK CLASSICS (Channel 835), MODERN ROCK (Channel 849) and METALHEADZ (Channel 858): 

ROCK CLASSICS replaces ROCK which means more of your classic rock tracks from acts such as Queen, Dire Straits, Midnight Oil, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and The Who.

MODERN ROCK replaces SOUNDTRACKS where you will now hear the best of the new rock acts such as the Killers, Wolfmother, Silverchair, Kings Of Leon, Foo Fighters, Powderfinger, and The Strokes.

METALHEADZ replaces ALT ROCK and is now hard and heavy with Metallica, Bullet For My Valentine, Lamb of God, Helmet, Nine Inch Nails, and Coheed & Cambria.

AIR is available on channel 830 which you can access via the Foxtel TV Guide or by pressing Activeon the Foxtel Remote Control and selecting AIR Active.

  1. I wonder who actually programs these channels, sometime the music is greatand to the genre, and then sometimes it’s all over the place – I really like Air when it’s good.

  2. because it was referred to as a revamp, i though this would be a completely new air service with a new interface, never the less these new audio channel are a good addition.

  3. And the best part, Austar finally offer all the channels. However, Austar still have the old active/menu – but as it is a radio service it doesn’t really matter.
