Nine cup looks like a mug now
Boasting "40 Weeks" won back in 2003, this cheeky "Still the One" cup was once toasting ratings glory.

Anybody still drinking out of this 2003 Nine cup must feel like a right mug about now….
Boasting “40 Weeks” won back in 2003, this cheeky “Still the One” cup was once trumpeting ratings glory.
Eight years later the situation has completely reversed, with Seven Network now winning 40 out of 40 weeks to Nine’s 0.
TV Tonight asked Seven if they had any plans to issue a similar coffee cup, but possibly wise to how it could backfire down the track, they are opting to rest on their laurels.
For the record, Seven won Week 47 in 2003 anyway, when it had the Rugby World Cup so maybe somebody ordered it a little prematurely. Can’t be sure…

I have this cup having worked a 9 for 14 years!
I’m now at 7.
7 would not give staff mugs because they are the tightest network i have ever worked for. No hampers (9 still get them) and no xmas parties… (9 still gets them)
Yet we made all the dollars this year..
Go Figure!
oh no
But @wamdue it’s boasting an achievement that didn’t happen I.e. they didn’t win 40 weeks.
I also don’t see the issue in looking at this just to note how things have changed in 8 years. And in 2020 we could be making similar remarks about Seven in 2011 who by that stage could be being beaten by SBS!
@Sam its an internal company for company employees, and the logos are reflective of the channels are they were in 2003, and as TEN still is. I really dont understand why some are failing to understand this mug represents the achievements of 2003, nothing else.
I am shocked at the revelation that Seven have a chance of being anything lower than first in perpetuity.
I was working at Nine when this cup came out. A lot of staff had one. At the time it really seemed the good times were never going to end. I think Seven will stay on top for quite a while yet.
I bet Packer is lucky he got out of TV, pity about the ski resort
What’s with all the volatile Nein fanboys in this thread? Get over it, its an amusing story and judging from the amount of comments here it’s obviously struck a chord with people.
@Steve Sydney: good point.
“Welcome Home”. To the network that produces 0 weeks in 2011, but brags about 40 weeks in 2003. Slow news day I guess. But TEN is now cracking at a rate, worse than that logo! Seven may have stopped bleeding. And where is SBS AND ABC. Did they get the chance for their logo on the mug?
@Warmdue – What about dissing their rivals? (cracked 10, melting 7).
As Steve said it appears that back in 2003 Nine didn’t even win the 40 weeks, that’s the point. Plus will Seven do similar and send out (or sell) mugs and other items with it’s 40 weeks of wins?
Maybe it is a slow news day but it’s David’s sit and he’s free to post any story he likes, you don’t have to comment on them.
I hear Nine are looking for a cup big enough to have ” 3 billion in debt” printed on it..
Hahagahaha I think we have the creator of the cup in this forum (warmdue)
It doesn’t just show off it’s own which is fine a melted 7 and cracked 10. If your gonna give it expect it back. Especially love how they didn’t even with 40 weeks hahaha
I love how nine sucked all those older execs for new blood they all went to 7 and boom
“Nine, 0 weeks 2011. Was the One.”
Agree with wamdue. Totally lame story.
Lighten up, people. Good find, David. Although it is interesting that perhaps the mug was made before finding out that they didn’t actually win the last (or 2nd last) week…
@Gazem, Lisa & s5000
Thank you
Well said @wamdue
I agree with you #warmdue
Agree with wamdue. Next topic
Looks like going elitist wasn’t such a good idea after all. Here’s a tip channel nine, Seven appeals to ordinary Australians.
Not sure what the point is. Slow news day, obviously.
I dont see what is a wrong here, the mug celebrates the achievement of 2003, it does not seek to claim that it also represents future achievements.
Ask any sports fan if the year their won the cup , (and any merchandise that celebrates it) is any less special, because they didn’t win it the next year.
Ah how the might have fallen!
I fear the same will happen for Seven, but will it be next year?
