SBS hearts ‘the family’

SBS and Shine Australia have partnered with Relationships Australia and Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia to support migrant Australian families by releasing a booklet draws on the experiences of The Cardamones, who star in the upcoming observational series the family.

The Cardamones were filmed by 35 remote controlled cameras in their home for 100 days for SBS.

The booklet looks at what it means to be a second generation migrant family in Australia, how this can affect relationships and challenges relating to cultural background and heritage. It will be distributed through Relationship Australia’s and FECCA’s networks, libraries and at www.sbs.com.au.

SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid said: “For more than 35 years SBS has been supporting Australia’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities and this resource, coupled with our new documentary series the family, is a modern interpretation of our original purpose. We are proud to be driving this initiative with our partners.”
