Sherlock season two update

Long-overdue drama, Sherlock, has now been slated in the US for May.

Fans of Sherlock have been kept waiting for some time but the second season has now been slated in the US for May.

There is still no date yet for the UK, but it is likely to be earlier. How much earlier is still unknown…

The second season, based on the stories A Scandal in Bohemia, The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Final Problem, was originally due on the BBC in 2011 which would have made planning awkward for Nine.

Cast members for the three 90 minute instalments include Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock, Martin Freeman as Dr John Watson, Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade and Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson. Ex-Being Human star Russell Tovey also has a role.

Easily one of the most wicked things on the box last year, but I guess we will have to wait a bit longer…

  1. This was an excellent series (but far too short). I’d just about given up waiting for the next series, it’s good to know it’s on it’s way (however slowly). If only it wasn’t on Nine… Knowing them we might see it in 2013 or 14 if we’re lucky, and then each of the three episodes will be on different nights of the week and at different times, and they’ll repeat each episode three times before the next one airs, etc.

  2. I have to say while I liked the first season it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be.

@blindowl – Nine lost my trust about 10 years ago, Seven and TEN are just as bad at times!

  3. Isn’t it sad that the once almighty 9 is now so distrusted (not that 7 or 10 are really trusted). Like so many others, I would rather wait until I can buy it on DVD than hope 9 does the right thing.

  4. I agree with the compliments for the series, I didn’t like the RDJ big screen Sherlock but loved this series.

I eagerly await season 2, the production seemed to have a bit of trouble because the two main stars (Cumbernatch and Freeman) both have big roles in The Hobbit, and that’s a massive year long production.

  5. I hope that Nine play this series over three Sundays instead of Sunday, Monday and Sunday with Season One. Another good show for Nine’s lineup in 2012.
