The artist formerly known as Mos Def

Keep your eye on Dexter credits as actor Mos Def changes his name to 'yasiin bey.'

Dexter‘s sixth season finally premieres on Showcase next week (can’t wait) but one of the actors in it appears to be going through a bit of an identity crisis.

In episode 2 Mos Def plays Brother Sam, an ex-convict who has seen the light. But he was credited simply as “Mos” having dropped the “Def.”

But by the third episode, “Mos” had disappeared from the opening credits while another name, ‘yasiin bey,’ appeared.

Showtime officials said the actor officially changed his name to ‘yasiin bey’ a month ago and asked that the network use that name in the credits.

  1. His character is the best thing about Dexter season six

Not super happy about the conclusion of episode five, but I trust the writers will take it in an interesting direction
