Dexter‘s sixth season finally premieres on Showcase next week (can’t wait) but one of the actors in it appears to be going through a bit of an identity crisis.
In episode 2 Mos Def plays Brother Sam, an ex-convict who has seen the light. But he was credited simply as “Mos” having dropped the “Def.”
But by the third episode, “Mos” had disappeared from the opening credits while another name, ‘yasiin bey,’ appeared.
Showtime officials said the actor officially changed his name to ‘yasiin bey’ a month ago and asked that the network use that name in the credits.

Meh – knew this a month ago when he appeared with Talib Kweli on The Colbert Report.
Some of these names celebrities come up with are just stupid.
Nonetheless, Mos Def was an awesome addition to this season.
His character is the best thing about Dexter season six
Not super happy about the conclusion of episode five, but I trust the writers will take it in an interesting direction
I’d gone off Dexter in recent seasons but may give it another go just to see Mos Def.
Mad. He’s a bloody good actor and hip-hop artist.
Seeing yasiin bey in the credits is so awkward. The lack of capitalisation really does bug me, and the name change was confusing 😛
He is so damn good in Dexter it’s not funny.
nah its just because he ran out of things to rhyme with ‘mos def’ in his raps
