Comedian Mick Molloy spent four hours in a police cell last week, admitting a boozy night had got the better of him.

Comedian Mick Molloy spent four hours in a police cell last week, admitting a boozy night had got the better of him.

Molloy’s night at Collingwood venue A Bar Called Barry ended with a verbal stoush with bouncers and police escorting him to the local lock-up to dry out.

He was later fined by police.

“Seriously, I am very embarrassed,” Molloy told News Limited.

“Clearly I made a giant fool of myself which we all know has been in my repertoire from time to time. I am very sorry to Victorian police whose time I wasted.

“Their job is hard enough without the added help from me and I sincerely apologise for wasting their time.”

The incident comes after a defamation suit which cost TEN $85,000 following comments on Before The Game in 2008.
