LifeStyle Channels: 2012 highlights

LifeStyle Channels has announced an impressive line-up of programming, enough to rival shows on most FTA networks.

LifeStyle Channels has announced an impressive line-up of programming for 2012, including Australian commissions and returning favourites.

The list of popular favourites rivals lifestyle shows on most Free to Air networks.

The XYZnetworks channels, which includes The LifeStyle Channel, LifeStyle YOU, LifeStyle FOOD and LifeStyle HOME), kicks off the fifth series of Selling Houses Australia in February and will screen a second series of Grand Designs Australia in April. Location Location Location Australia, the sister series of Relocation Relocation Australia, airs on The LifeStyle Channel mid-year.

LifeStyle Channels General Manager, Nicole Sheffield said “2011 was an outstanding year for LifeStyle Channels. We launched our fourth channel, LifeStyle HOME; achieved some of our best ever ratings; continued to produce some outstanding and successful local productions; and The LifeStyle Channel won the ASTRA Awards Channel of the Year for the second year in a row.

“Our local production slate for 2012 is strong and more extensive than ever and we have some fantastic commissions in development which will be announced early next year. I couldn’t be more excited about our 2012 programming line-up, it’s incredibly robust. We pride ourselves on bringing our viewers the best lifestyle content from around the world and I’m confident we will have our most successful year yet.”

Exclusive international series premiering on The LifeStyle Channel include property favourites – Location Location Location S14; Help! My House is Falling Down S3; DIY SOS: The Big Build S3; Beeny’s Restoration Nightmare S2; the brand new series, Phil Spencer: Secret Agent; and all new Grand Designs. Business makeover programming will be an important new genre for the channel in 2012, starting with Jo Malone’s High Street Dreams; Show Me the Monet; and Superior Interiors with Kelly Hoppen. Life change programming will continue to be key for the channel, including new series’ of Secret Millionaire and the popular River Cottage franchise; along with all new series of medical programs, One Born Every Minute and 24 Hours in A&E.

LifeStyle YOU will start the year with a local production of hit reality series, Wife Swap Australia, premiering in January. With its mirror on Australian domestic lives, this series moves LifeStyle into the next evolution of lifestyle content in this country.

In 2011 Australians developed Gypsy fever. Big Fat Gypsy Weddings is LifeStyle YOU’s highest rating program since its launch in November 2009; and a second series of this thought provoking and entertaining series will premiere mid-year.

LifeStyle YOU’s line-up for 2012 includes addictive new series’ of the hilarious and outrageous reality shows – The Only Way Is Essex S3; Made in Chelsea S2; and Mob Wives S2. More dating, wedding, parenting and transformational programming will premiere with all new series of Tough Love, this time they’re in Miami; Four Weddings S3; Don’t Tell the Bride S5; Jo Frost’s final series of Supernanny; and the popular Gok Wan premieres a new format, Gok’s Clothes Roadshow. YOU will also exclusively premiere brand new series’, Shipwrecked: The Island, Tamara Ecclestone: Billion $$ Girl; and controversial chat show, The Jeremy Kyle Show.

LifeStyle FOOD has been the leader in food TV in this country since 2004 and the channel experienced its biggest growth ever in 2011. 2012 will see some of the channel’s favourite formats return with exclusive new series’ of MasterChef: The Professionals S4; MasterChef 2012; and Great British Menu S7. Sweet treats include all new series’ of Choccywoccydoodah and Cake Boss; along with the delicious, Marvelous Mrs Beeton with Sophie Dahl. With his no-nonsense, ultra-tasty recipes Jamie Oliver will hit LifeStyle FOOD with Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals; and Jamie’s Food Escapes.

LifeStyle HOME will turn one in March 2012. Australia’s only channel totally dedicated to home and property entertainment, LifeStyle HOME brings together the best inspirational and informative ideas for every Australian home. Key programming for 2012 includes Sarah’s House S4; Holmes Inspection S3; and a new series of Mark Burnett’s reality program, Design Star. Pop icon and home improvement guru Vanilla Ice returns with a second series of The Vanilla Ice Project; along with new series’ Get It Sold and Selling New York S2.

With the world’s best lifestyle programming all in one place, it promises to be a big year on LifeStyle.
