SBS: Thanks but no thanks on merger idea
SBS says any merge with the ABC is at odds with what the Government and audiences actually want.

SBS has issued a brief response to Maurice Newman’s suggestion to merge the ABC and SBS:
It’s a shame that Maurice Newman’s parting comments were not about his considerable achievements at the ABC but instead focused on a merger that would be at odds with what audiences and the Government want.
The Government has committed to two national broadcasters and to retaining SBS’s unique multicultural and multilingual services.
SBS wishes Mr Newman well.

How many times do they want to show Graham Norton.
How many channels does the ABC want? They can hardly fill the ones they have now, let alone another three or four.
Keep SBS and tell the ABC to bugger off.
The World Game on your ABC! nah, doesn’t sound right.
Both stations offer different content and thus have wider appeal apart than they do together. SBS is the Doco King and I for one hope they get the budget they need to keep their line up going.
Ha, that’s a lesson in how to tell someone to F off such that they look forward to the trip!
