Airdate: A Gifted Man

Patrick Wilson stars as a surgeon whose deceased ex-wife begins teaching him the meaning of life from the "hereafter."

TEN will launch its second new US drama for 2012 later this month with A Gifted Man.

The CBS series sees Patrick Wilson star as a brilliant, charismatic surgeon whose life changes forever when his deceased ex-wife begins teaching him the meaning of life from the “hereafter.”

The cast includes Jennifer Ehle, Julie Benz, Liam Aiken, Margo Martindale, Pablo Schreiber and Rachelle Lefevre.

Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich), Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs), Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Neal Baer (ER) are executive producers.

There are 16 episodes in the first season, after three more were ordered by CBS.

Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson) is an exceptional doctor who lives a materialistic life of luxury thanks to his work-obsessed career and powerful and wealthy patients; however, Michael’s ordered world is rocked when his ex-wife, Anna (Jennifer Ehle), an idealistic free-clinic doctor and the love of his life, mysteriously appears to him. Michael’s offbeat sister, Christina (Julie Benz), a single mom to her teenaged son, Milo (Liam Aiken), is thrilled that Anna’s back in her brother’s life, even as an “illusion,” because Michael was always a better person with her. Curious about Michael’s sudden change in behavior is his efficient assistant, Rita (Margo Martindale). When Anna asks Michael to go to her clinic to help keep it running, he meets Autumn (Afton Williamson), a volunteer carrying on Anna’s work with the underprivileged. Touched by those in need and accepting of Anna’s compassionate “presence,” Michael’s attitude toward serving the rich and poor is turned upside down, and he begins to see that there’s room in his life for everyone.

  1. @Nate I don’t think there’s anything wrong with TEN showing this at the start of the year, doesn’t matter if as you stated DOA, why should we lose out, don’t we get a chance to see it.

  2. Agree, where’s the promo? Lucky I saw this otherwise I wouldn’t have known it was on. Been looking forward to this. Seen snippets on Nael Baer’s Twitter.

  3. Great show. But do i bother watching it now on Ten. I don’t trust Ten anymore so how do i know they won’t take it off after a few weeks??

I like the timeslot though. I think shows should start on the hour here like in the US. Could schedule more shows each night with an earlier start and shows starting 10-11 could still rate. 11.30 finish is pushing it.
