Lost tops IMDb search for the last decade

What were the TV shows that people searched for in the last ten years on the Internet Movie Database?

Lost has been the most-searched television show in the last ten years on the Internet Movie Database.

To celebrate 10 years of IMDbPro, the website has released its top searched movie stars (Johnny Depp), movies (The Dark Knight) and TV shows.

Top 10 TV Series of the Last 10 Years*
1. Lost
2. House M.D.
3. Grey’s Anatomy
4. Heroes
5. How I Met Your Mother
6. 24
7. Glee
8. True Blood
9. Dexter
10. Gossip Girl
*Highest average ranking over the last 10 years

I’d suggest that American Idol is probably the highest in average-ratings, but Reality show information isn’t exactly why we visit IMDb.

I still regard Lost as one of the most ground-breaking dramas of the last ten years, so I’m pretty happy with these results even if they are skewed to fanboy shows.

  1. I have found IMDb really good for info on movies, TV etc….and use it a lot….also very accurate….
@ tomothy….I also really like Wiki…but it can be problamatic…..as anyone and everyone puts info into it….and sometimes can be a little off the mark….I always double check their info with other sources….I have been caught out a few times…

  2. I’ve never found IMDB to be that great for information, Wikipedia usually gives a lot more information about a show, including a production and history notes.

  3. Agree about Lost. Sure the last season or two it indeed lost its way, but it was a groundbreaking show and the very first 15-20 mins of the pilot was epic television.

The surprise here is Heroes at #4. Heroes season 1 was brilliant, but it was straight downhill from there, i haven’t even seen the finale. Don’t know why it’s so high

  4. What an indictment on Australian commercial television this list is. If we can assume this is a “popular” show list, that is shows that people actually are interested in reading about and watching, then consider how some of these shows were treated by their respective commercial networks here in Australia. Specifically, I’m talking about Heroes, 24 and Dexter – all of which were snubbed or bumped in some way shape or form by their respective networks. Heroes ended up screening at about midnight. Why? Most likely because the majority of people with the ratings machines in their homes (which are rarely changed) don’t watch shows like this – instead they’re rather tune in and watch mindless crap like Today Tonight or the plethora or rubbish reality shows spewed up by the networks. But this list does prove there is a market out there for shows like Heroes and Dexter. Sci-fi TV shows also fall foul to this as well.
