Matt Golinski remains in an induced coma

Chef Matt Golinski, who was badly burnt in a house fire on Boxing Day, remains in an induced coma in hospital.

With so much attention on Molly Meldrum’s recuperation there has been little update on the condition of chef Matt Golinski (Ready Steady Cook) who was badly burned in a house fire on Boxing Day.

Tragically, Golinski’s family perished in the fire.

The Courier Mail reports he remains in an induced coma in hospital after suffering third degree burns to more than 40 per cent of his body.

His father, Keith, said that despite their “unbearable loss”, the family had been touched by the hundreds of get well cards sent to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

“Until Matt is well enough to be woken from his medically induced coma, I can only express our sincere thanks for everyone’s support,” he said.

A Matthew Golinski Recovery Fund has been set up.

Donations to the fund can be made at any ANZ branch, or direct deposit to BSB 014 672, account no: 263 331 805.

Meanwhile, friends of Molly Meldrum have been asked to send him pictures and messages which doctors hope will spark his memory.

Personal assistant Yael Cohen wrote to friends advising, “Molly is still in ICU and doctors are pleased with his progress as he is improving daily.”

Best wishes to both for a full recovery.

  1. It is unimaginable what Matt has to go through from the moment his eyes open. I would hope that his loved ones spirits willed him to be with them. Surely one person should suffer only so much.
    Life can be very cruel.

  2. This story of both Matt and Mollys current situation does nothing but sadden me. However, in the case of Matt, I am genuinely suprised that nothing has been said in the press by Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston or any of Matts other fellow celebrity chefs.

I know nothing they can do will help him, I just thought they may have made comment….
