Character actor Ian Abercrombie, best known as Elaine’s boss Mr. Pitt boss in Seinfeld, has died, aged 77.
Abercrombie appeared in scores of films, TV shows and theatre productions during his 50-year-plus career in show business.
The British-born actor made his American stage debut in 1955 in a production of Stalag 17 and his films included Von Ryan’s Express, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?,Young Frankenstein, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, Army of Darkness, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rango.
His best known TV role was Mr. Pitt in Seinfeld, as Elaine’s picky boss who eats his candy bars with a knife and fork and wears white knee socks.
Other TV roles included Birds of Prey, Get Smart, Hunter, L.A. Law, Dynasty, Northern Exposure, NewsRadio, Murphy Brown, Desperate Housewives and dozens of others.
His final role was as Professor Crumbs in Wizards of Waverly Place.

He was Alfred in Birds of Prey.
omg I was just watching him last night in ‘Wizards of Waverly Place” and in ‘Mr Popper’s Penguins’..he will be missed.
Such a fantastic actor, and I will always remember him as Mr Pitt. I’m sure ‘Next Stop Pottersville’ will be playing where he is :)
