US soap actor Nick Santino who appeared in All My Children, Guiding Light and Gossip Girl, has been found dead following a suicide.
Santino, 47, was understood to be traumatised following the death of his pet, a pit bull dog that was outlawed by the board members of his New York apartment building.
The 5-year-old dog was put to sleep on Santino’s 47th birthday. But a few hours later, he killed himself in an apparent pill overdose.
The actor blamed the board at One Lincoln Plaza for his decision to put Rocco to sleep, saying the members waged a campaign of harassment against him and dog owners in the building.
He left behind a grief-stricken note, a friend said, saying that he “betrayed his best friend.”
“Rocco trusted me and I failed him,” he wrote. “He didn’t deserve this.”
The troubled star made no mention of the troubles when he last spoke to family.
A member of the condo board refused to accept any responsibility for the tragedy yesterday.

Thank you Kia. Please, let’s not judge these situations. You can’t possibly have known what someone was feeling in order to decide this course of action. There just needs to be more help, support, diagnosis, and treatment of depression and mental illness.
Selfish act? No, like most suicides, more likely the fatal end result of un- or poorly-treated mental illness. Very sad.
I saw this on TMZ and it broke my heart.
Did it occur to any of you that he may not have been in a position to move? Nor should he have to if his dog was safe.
what a dill why didn”t he just move out and find a new dog frindly appartment .
well there’s the three,these things always come in threes;
Diana Bliss, the man from the Bill and now this beautiful sensitive soul.
None of us were there and haven’t walked in this mans shoes, we can’t judge him or his life.
What an absolute angel x
I wonder if that was the real reason, I do understand the trauma of losing a pet.
RIP regardless.
Really? Over a dog?
What a selfish act, I feel for his friends and family…
He couldnt have given the dog away to a family member, or the pound? He had to put it to sleep?? Doesnt sound right, theres more to this
Why didn’t he just move?
