Airdate: BAFTA Awards 2012

Stephen Fry will host the British Academy Film Awards which will air live in Australia on Monday 13th February (AEDST).

The red carpet action begins 7.30am (AEDST), followed by the broadcast of the awards ceremony from 8.00am (AEDST).

StarPics is the only channel outside of the UK broadcasting the awards Live and in full HD. It will also screen the 84th Academy Awards Live on Monday 27 February from 10.00am (AEDST).

The 2012 BAFTA Awards will be hosted by renowned English actor, author and comedian Stephen Fry, from the Royal Opera House in London as they celebrate the best international films seen on British cinema screens.

Leading the nominations at this year’s BAFTA’s is The Artist which has received 12 nominations, closely followed by Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, nominated in 11 categories. Top contenders also include Hugo receiving nine nominations, My Week With Marilyn with six nominations and The Help and War Horse each receiving five nominations.

The 2012 BAFTA Awards will see Martin Scorsese honoured with the 2012 BAFTA Film Award Fellowship, the highest accolade awarded in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film.

Actors will also be recognised at this years’ ceremony with the acclaimed Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award, the audience award voted for by the British public and presented to an actor or actress who has demonstrated exceptional talent and promise. The nominees for the 2012 Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award are Adam Deacon, Chris O’Dowd, Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston and Australia’s own Chris Hemsworth.
