Airdate: Earth Flight

Nine will premiere BBC documentary series Earth Flight at 7:30pm Thursday February 16.

The six part natural history series began airing in the UK in late December, and includes one episode that looks at Asia and Australia.

UPDATE: Nine is revoicing the series to be narrated by Charles Wooley.

The first episode in the series begins in North America.

Earthflight, a stunning and wondrous series showing the world from an amazing new perspective, premieres on Channel Nine on Thursday, February 16, at 7.30pm, narrated by 60 Minutes reporter Charles Wooley.

Earthflight combines state-of-the-art technology, sophisticated camera techniques and astonishing aerial images to bring you the world as seen by birds. This extraordinary six-part series from the groundbreaking BBC Natural History Unit, which made the remarkable Frozen Plant series, was more than three years in the making.

Prepare to embark on an incredible voyage with the world’s birds, soaring across continents, watching spectacular animal migrations and great natural wonders unfolding below you, and swooping down to interact with life-and-death wildlife dramas on land and sea.

Each episode explores a continent through the eyes of different birds, providing a dramatic narrative of life on Earth throughout the seasons as they take viewers on a fantastic world of flight.

The giant condor is your guide to South America, revealing the wildlife marvels of the Andes mountain chain, while macaws explore the rainforest below.

Other fascinating episodes see Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia through the eyes of the crane, the barnacle goose, the swallow and the flamingo.

The final episode goes behind the scenes to reveal how this astounding, pioneering nature series was made.

  1. What a joke. What a shame. What a waste to give these sorts of show to Nine to be dumbed down with over-narration by some clown from 60 Minutes and filled with Zoot Review commercials. And the episodes will look just “stunning” in SD too.

  2. Strike 1) changing the narrator.
Strike 2) changing the run order, but amazing they didn’t go with ep 5 the AU one.
    Strike 3) not in HD

Sorry Nine not this time, I’ll wait for the BluRay and watch the full 60 min version, not the edited ones with loads of ads!

  3. Looks good but can we please have it in HD on GEM and can we trust Nine to air it in the same order as the BBC? Oh and will we get the 60 min version or one cut back to 45 minutes?

Just realized it will probably air on GEM in full, in a few weeks or after they start on the main channel.
