Sultry Dichen Lachman (Neighbours, Dollhouse, Being Human) becomes the the third Australian to join US drama pilot Last Resort.

The Shawn Ryan-produced drama for ABC follows the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become fugitives after refusing to fire their missiles. They make camp on an island that hosts a NATO listening station and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation.

Lachman will play bar-manager Tani, daughter of an elder tribesman.

Already cast in the series are fellow Aussies Daisy Betts (Out of the Blue, Sea Patrol, Small Claims) and Daniel Lissing (Crownies).

  1. Sorry to burst people’s bubble, but about 30% of pilots don’t get picked up to series, and from the ones that do about 15% get cancelled mid season, then around 25% of the ones that make it through that, don’t get the back end episode order, then after that 30% don’t get picked up for a second season. So in summary, being cast in a pilot is not success in the states.

Also this sounds like a pretty terrible show, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it got ordered for a front 9 episode order, but I doubt it will even air all of those.
