Gone: Freddie Flintoff vs the World

SBS yanks the adventure series with a former English cricketer trying his hand at extreme sports challenges.

And now a programming update from SBS…

Freddie Flintoff vs the World, featuring former English cricketer Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff trying his hand at extreme sports challenges, has been pulled from Monday nights.

Next Monday at 8:30pm SBS ONE will screen a repeat of Man vs Wild, with another to follow a week later.

This week SBS had a low-rating Monday, even by its own standards, with the 8:30 show averaging just 75,000 viewers.

UPDATE: Final 2 episodes now air 1pm / 1:55pm Tuesday Feb 28 -set your PVR!

  1. I watch SBS quite a bit and I saw commercials for it often, but it didn’t really grab my interest.

We have to face it, Monday on SBS just isn’t the same wthout Top Gear.

    Curse you Nein.

  2. @Dr Heckle – I don’t watch a huge amount on SBS but the program seemed to be promoted fairly heavily, but without saturation, for a few weeks beforehand. I didn’t watch it as it’s not my thing but I thought it would’ve done better.

It also might be a pre-emptive move by SBS because whatever is at 8:30 on Monday from next week is going to be smashed once Revenge and Alcatraz start.

  3. Well, that’s what happens when you don’t promote the tiny treasures… Freddie’s most recent episode saw people with a fear of heights climb onto the wings of an airborne plane… much better TV than two and a half big baggage theories. Disappointing effort by SBS… it’s just not cricket.

  4. “Their not a commercial network”.
Not true. They’re not *wholly* a commercial network but they still need to maximise the return to advertisers who do purchase air-time. Really, there is little point in broadcasting something if hardly anybody is going to watch.

  5. I watched the first episode and it was only alright. There isn’t much on the show to sustain interest, but I think SBS should air all the episodes. Their not a commercial network so why treat shows like 7, 9 and 10?
