NBC’s “Brotherhood of Man”

Wow. Simply wow. NBC has excelled with a network musical number for Super Bowl.

Wow. Simply wow.

America may turn it on for Super Bowl ads, but NBC has excelled with a special musical number featuring network stars.

The song is “Brotherhood of Man” from the ’50s musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

You can watch the clip here (sorry, YouTube embedding is disabled for this clip).

I wanna play it again!

  1. @ausriley26, you obviously aren’t old enough to remember when we actually did do exactly that – although not to the production level of NBC. Channel 7 was the main one that I remember that rolled out all the network stars for a new year collaboration song. I can’t find an example on youtube but I’m sure it’s there. But while I think about it, Channel 7 sort of did a new years one this year with the ready right now theme.

Did anyone else notice a few CGI inclusions in the group shots at the end?

  2. I reckon Channel 7 are brainstorming their own ideas to “borrow” this for their own promos in the near future, although I’m not sure it will carry the same oomph with the cast of Please Marry My Boy or the kidlets from Home And Away! Mel and Kochie would be up for it though.

  3. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve watched it – it’s the best promo I’ve ever seen. Although, I hope Australian networks stay away from trying to replicate it because it would no doubt be awful.

  4. I normally don’t like those types of clips but NBC did a fantastic job on this one, the local networks should take note!

BTW I noticed Community was in it, a good sign given NBC recently put them on indefinite hiatus after low ratings this season. Maybe they should re-think the time slot and not put them up against TBBT and AI?

Also David there is a higher quality copy on the Broadway website.
