Push-up contest… now who’s copying who?

After Karl's on-air push-ups, Kochie turns around and does the same thing. Let's sort this out like gentlemen....

Copycat claims are running wild this week… new sets, weight-loss shows, and now push-ups on morning breakfast shows.

This morning Karl Stefanovic performed 25 push-ups on Today at 8:23am.

The Sunrise boys, Mark Beretta and David Koch also did push-ups, at 8:50am.

After a week of talk about cloning Seven, Nine insiders are now pointing the finger in the other direction.

Sunrise EP Michael Pell told TV Tonight, “Believe it or not, Kochie doesn’t watch Today.”

“Accusations of copying are a bit rich coming from Nine – the home of emulation. What’s that phrase? Pot? Kettle?””

In fact both shows were “copying” or reacting to Michelle Obama doing on-air push-ups alongside Ellen DeGeneres.

Maybe it’s time Sunrise and Today teams had a push-up contest to settle this squabble once and for all?

Around three hundred thousand viewers tune into today show and about the same on sunrise so the audience for both shows in sydney is very very small, says alot about what sydney thinks of both shows . Sydney has a population of around five million,and its not much better nationally .hardly anyone is watching because its crap tv.Booooooooring

  4. Karl copied ellen , kochie copied ellen. Neither of these two boofheads have any originality. Kochie didnt copy karl , karl and kochie both copied ellen. They both saw the footage overnight from the ellen show.

  5. How trashy is breakfast television. When karl does push ups you know its trash tv. Today show has lost all credibility. Karl would have to be the biggest boof head on tv.Sunrise aint much better.

  6. I wake up with sunrise but today i woke up with today or was it sunrise I can’t even tell nowadays.. there simply is no difference between the two shows,becuase they look exactly the same . One has a gay hollywood reporter so today gets one too.not that there is anything wrong with that,. one has a five foot two weatherman the today show got one too.one show has a couch to sit on the today show got one too . One show has two politicians debating on a friday so today show gets itself two politicians debating on a friday too. One has kochie’s angels debating so karl gets two angels too . This is so stupid . They have both gone as low as they can.its ridiculous . And its all played out on national tv!. The fact remains ever since lisa went over to nine the today show has become a clone of sunrise.. So ridiculous this all is that i have gone off both shows, karl was hoping to steal sunrise viewers by confusing them with the same set, well karl you have actually put me off watching commercial breakfast tv. I have gone over to ABC breakfast and guess what its ok.I wake up with ABC breakfast until ten comes along.

  7. Wonder how many push ups paul Henry can do? I mainly watch Sunrise but do channel surf and am still gobsmacked by The Today Show set. I am watching it and at times i think i am watching sunrise. It really is the wierdest thing to ever happen in TV. A real complement to Sunrise though. Why don’t they get Karl and Lisa to wear Kochie and Mel masks.

  11. Karl’s seem to be more spontaneous than Kochie’s but it is Television so who knows.

    I think Today leads over Sunrise for a news breakfast show as Sunrise is always nominated in “Light Entertainment” category every year for a Logie.
