Getaway returns for its 21st season on Nine this weekend in its Saturday afternoon timeslot.
The travel show moved from Thursdays to Saturdays mid-2011.
Now Australia’s longest running lifestyle program, it returns with Catriona Rowntree, Dermott Brereton, Kelly Landry, Jules Lund, Jason Dundas and special guest Sophie Monk.
Catriona, Jason and Kelly go in search of romantic weekend escapes. Jason travels an hour and a half from Sydney, finding a perfect getaway for couples in the Blue Mountains, and Catriona discovers an adults-only retreat offering beachfront luxury on Hamilton Island.
Kelly travels down the Sunshine Coast waterways on a gondola, finding a piece of Venice right here in Australia which offers a unique romantic experience for couples.
Special guest Sophie Monk heads to Hawaii to get up close with monk seals at Sea Life Park. This isn’t your average animal park – the marine refuge is designed with reefs, lagoons and pools, plus attractions and activities for the whole family. Dermott also heads overseas to uncover the shopping secrets of Singapore.
Back home, Jules gets behind the steering wheel and tests out the Indian Ocean coast drive linking Perth’s northern suburbs with coastal towns and tourist destinations.

Incredible!!! This show’s ratings were pathetic last year!! A Saturday night time slot will ensure this is the show’s last season…..
Getaway is well past its halcyon years. Back in the day, the reporters were sophisticated. It was a pleasure to see the likes of Rebecca Harris, Lochie Daddo, Sorrell Wilby and Jeff Watson. It used to be must see TV. Nowadays, the likes of Jules Lund and Jason Dundas I find are not relatable. It’s hardly the reputable production it used to be.
I do remember The Great Outdoors at 6:30 Saturdays, and before that, The World Around Us.
I agree. Put ‘Getaway’ on at 6.30pm Saturday and shaft ‘Funniest Home Videos’ over to GO!. It’s probably the ideal channel for it, along with the constant annoying repeats of ‘Big Bang’. ‘The Great Outdoors’ was once on a Saturday at 6.30pm, wasn’t it, from memory?
Yes, 6:30 Saturday would be an ideal time for this show.
However, that’s where Hey Hey should go when it returns (wishful thinking again).
First time I’ve seen Hey Hey mentioned since the relaunch of the site.
Surely this can still be shown in the evening at 6.30 on Saturday. They can then get rid of Unfunniest Home Videos, or at least shaft it to GO at the same time/same day.
