Next month ABC1 begins the tenth and final season of Spooks.

Joining the last series are Lara Pulver, Geoffrey Streatfeild, Alice Krige and Jonathan Hyde.

The final series sees the team tackling enemies from terrorists to cyber attackers, while also battling the bigger, darker forces at work.

MI5 chief Harry Pearce is facing some complicated questions about the future of Section D as well as some skeletons from his own past. Relationships between the CIA and MI5 are strained; add the Russian secret service to the mix and Harry and his team have a power time bomb on their hands.

Elena and Sasha are two figures from Harry’s past he never thought he’d meet again. A valuable asset from the Cold War, Elena is also married to Harry’s opposite number in the KGB, Ilya Gavrik. And they’ve all just landed in the UK to negotiate a ground-breaking strategic partnership, creating no end of diplomatic and personal problems for Harry.

Changes have been made to the team during Harry’s suspension – new section chief Erin has doubts about the unconventional way Harry gets results, and Tariq has problems with cocky new spook Calum. Ruth’s loyalties are tested when she realises the extent of Harry’s secret past, and the Home Secretary decides he wants her for his own team. Dimitri continues to prove his cool-headed value to the team, honey-trapping the sister of a deadly terrorist bent on exploding a dirty bomb in London.

  1. So glad it’s coming back, so sad it’s the last season (what is it about my fav shows and the fact that they are in their “last season”?). I was so glad they bought back the character Ruth – she was the best.

    One of the things I really like about this show is that most of the women in the top roles are not barbie dolls. They are interesting, mature women real characters with depth – eg Ruth, Ros, Erin, Fiona etc – yet sexy! And the chaps they have in the man roles…..swoon! 😉
