Ryan Phillippe withdraws from US drama pilot

Ryan Phillippe has dropped out of CBS' cop drama pilot, co-produced by Greg Berlanti.

Ryan Phillippe has dropped out of CBS’ cop drama pilot, which was previously known as Golden Boy.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed he has amicably parted ways with the project, co-produced by Greg Berlanti.

Sources confirm that Phillippe expressed doubt about committing to the production demands of a network drama series.

Phillippe was set to star as a cop who rises quickly through the ranks from officer to detective to police commissioner.

The project will now begin the search for a replacement to join the previously cast Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro and Stella Maeve.

Phillippe is currently filming a major arc on FX’s fifth and final season of Damages.
