So who won Summer Ratings?

Seven wins in Total People, but Nine takes out the Demos for Summer 2011-12.

Seven’s coverage of the Men’s Final at the Australian Open was the highest-rating show across the summer period.

It averaged 2.04m viewers.

In second place was the Semi Final on Night 11 at 1.75m viewers. Next was an episode of The Big Bang Theory (1.63m), Australian Open Day 7: Night (1.6m), four episodes of My Kitchen Rules (1.5m -1.58m), Doc Martin (1.5m) and Twenty20 Cricket: Aus v India Game 2 (1.43m).

The summer period started on November 27 and ended on February 11.

In Total People the results were:

Seven 30.1%
Nine 27.1%
TEN 19.5%
ABC 16.8%
SBS 6.4%

But in the Demographic breakdowns, Nine won 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

The biggest audience for TEN all Summer was the debut of New Girl on 1.4m and Homeland (1.34m), both on the first ‘Super Sunday.’

For ABC1 Doc Martin (1.5m) was its best then Upstairs Downstairs (946,000).

Once Upon a Time in Cabramatta was tops for SBS ONE on 504,000.

Seasonal shows included NYE Midnight Fireworks (1.3m), Carols in the Domain (1.09m) and Carols by Candlelight (950,000 -possibly including a repeat).

  1. I don’t know what Ch7 pays to broadcast the tennis but it’s definitely worth it. Massive ratings at the start of every year plus it gives a huge boost to every show that ch7 cross-promotes during the broadcast.
