David Beckham, Stephen Fry, Jeremy Clarkson, David Walliams and the stars of Doctor Who will appear in UK charity event Sport Relief 2102, which will screen on UK TV this month.

Since 2002 the annual event has raised a staggering £124m for charity.

In Australia, there are dedicated programmes airing over 6 nights from Monday March 26 on UKTV. The season kicks off with a specially produced programme, This is Sport Relief, in which Stephen Fry, explains what Sport Relief is and the history behind the campaign.

For the first time ever, Sport Relief comes to international audiences through the BBC’s global channels!

One of the UK’s biggest television events, Sport Relief brings together the best of British sporting talent, comedians and entertainers to raise money to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

Sport Relief 2012 gives global viewers a special season of brand new and exclusive shows. The season features some of Britain’s best loved faces from the worlds of entertainment and sport, with a stellar line up set to include footballing legend David Beckham, the stars of Doctor Who, Top Gear and Mock The Week, Little Britain’s David Walliams, QI’s Stephen Fry, comedians John Bishop, Alan Carr and Catherine Tate and many, many more.

The season kicks off with a specially produced programme, This is Sport Relief, in which the legendary Stephen Fry explains what Sport Relief is and the history behind the campaign. This will be followed by a series of Sport Relief Specials, documentaries that chart some of the campaign’s most memorable fund raising events. For example, comedian David Walliams’ epic eight-day swim along the length of the Thames, the river that flows through London. His 140 mile journey is the equivalent of swimming between England and France eight times!

Sport Relief 2012 culminates with Sport Relief Goes Global, a four-hour extravaganza featuring comedy highlights from the UK’s night of fundraising entertainment on BBC One, the BBC’s flagship channel. Special guests on the night include sporting heroes like the Olympian Sir Stephen Redgrave and UK tennis ace Andy Murray, alongside a host of comedians and TV luminaries such as Miranda Hart, Russell Brand and the casts of hit shows Doctor Who and Top Gear.
