Ian wins Cricket Superstar

21 year old Ian Holland wins a rookie cricketing contract thanks to Cricket Superstar.

21 year old Melburnian Ian “Duchy” Holland was announced as the inaugural winner of Cricket Superstar last night on FOX8.

He defeated James Moss from Adelaide and David Vernon from Perth for the title, winning a rookie contract for the 2012-13 cricket season with Victoria and a four month scholarship at Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence.

Judge Allan Border said, “Ian impressed everyone as he went through the process of the series, and that’s why he’s been named the inaugural Cricket Superstar.

“What I liked most about Ian was his all rounder skills, along with the character he brings to the table and his valuable leadership qualities. It was his overall package that was really compelling. I am confident he has what it takes, but now it is up to him.”

Holland added, “When I tried out for Cricket Superstar I was thrilled just to have made it into the final 15 and now to go on to win, well, it’s just out of this world,” he said. “To have a rookie contract is a great opportunity for me and I’m going to give it my all. I will forever be grateful to Cricket Superstar for giving me this chance to follow my dream.”

The series, hosted by Lee Furlong, was a summer successor to Foxtel’s Football Superstar series.
