The next Aussie cast in a US pilot is Peta Sergeant, best known for her work on Foxtel’s Satisfaction.
The Hollywood Reporter notes Sergeant will play Gaia Woods in The Selection, described as an epic romance set 300 years in the future. It will produced by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain (The Vampire Diaries).
The Warner Bros. TV project sees a poor young woman chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads.
Sergeant’s character is described as ‘a rebel leader who is working to overthrow the monarchy.’
The cast also includes Ethan Peck, Aimee Teegarden and Sean Patrick Thomas.

@ Secret Squirrel –Occasionally stealing a plasma rifle or AK47 instead of bows and arrows? If only! LOL!
@Phoenix – my thoughts exactly. I wonder if it’ll have the same bizarre mix of futuristic and medieval weapons & tech? You’d think that the low-tech people would occasionally successfully steal a plasma rifle or at least an AK47.
This show sounds like it’s been influenced by The Hunger Games. Not surprising. Some Hollywood producer sees a megahit looming in The Hunger Games trilogy, and is racing to jump on the bandwagon.
Still, I’m sufficiently intrigued to give the show a go when it airs down the track. 🙂
