Airdate: FA Cup 2012

SBS will screen the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool live next month.

SBS has announced its 21st broadcast of the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool, live at 1am Sunday 6th May.

The broadcast will be hosted by David Basheer with analysis from Craig Foster, David Zdrilic and Francis Awaritefe.

Reporter Vitor Sobral will be live on site at Wembley Stadium while Martin Tyler and Stewart Robson will also provide commentary.

The FA Cup Final showcases the very best of English football and this year’s final will see Chelsea and Liverpool go head to head at Wembley Stadium. Chelsea beat Tottenham 5-1 to secure its place in the final while Liverpool overcame Everton.

Liverpool, under club legend Kenny Dalglish are out to complete a Cup double, after taking out the first silverware of the season, the League Cup, and defeating arch rival Everton in the semi-finals.

Chelsea are looking for a 4th FA Cup triumph in 6 seasons, and are now coached by club icon Roberto di Matteo, who scored for the Blues in the 1997 Final. Chelsea demolished London rivals Tottenham in the semi-finals, and are hopeful of a strong finish to a difficult season.

Live 1am AEST, Sunday 6 May on SBS ONE.

  1. Please SBS, do not put Senator Stephen Conroy on TV, doning Chelsea gear. He was embarrassing the last FA Cup final Chelsea played, and who can forget his rendtion of the Collingwood club song last year? (What is heard cannot be unheard.)

  2. Just a heads up it is kicking off in a 5.15pm slot here rather than the traditional 3pm slot – so it’ll be a later night than usual for you down under.
