Andrew Denton makes his long-awaited return to television next week as host of his new word-based game show, Randling.

Two teams each week will battle out the games hosted by Denton.

In the first episode Merrick Watts and  Annabel Crabb are team West Coast Odd Sox, while Julia Zemiro and Michael Williams form the Southern Furies.

Points are accrued in week in a quest for the Randling series title and trophy.

Randling, is a game show that hearkens back to the good old days when a point was a point and a team was something worth barracking for.

Using sporting competition as inspiration and framework, Randling pits ten amazing teams against each other over 27 rounds of bone-crunching combat.

White-water rafting for the brain, Randling is a show where smart people can be funny and funny people can be smart, where actual knowledge may help you, but just as likely won’t. It’s a cheeky, surprising show that allows Mr Denton to live up to his hosting motto: ‘I’m Andrew and I’m not here to help’.

Mostly, Randling is a show where brilliant performers can come to play. And that’s play for fun as well as play to win. It’s a half hour filled with insight and insults, brilliance and bullshit. We guarantee every episode will leave you at least 1% smarter and 100% happier.

Each week, two teams play for keeps, fighting over every point to fulfil their dream of taking home the 2012 Randling premiership.

8:30pm Wednesday May 2 ABC1.

  1. Can’t wait for this one. It sounds alittle like the BBC’s “My Word” which is still a good thing. Andrew (the boy from indoor cricket!) no doubt will be in his element.

  2. I’ve been to two tapings of Randling so far and it’s something definitely worth checking out. Denton brings his 90’s comedic timing back to the screens and the guest contestants are funny and intelligent.

When talking about when it was airing I mentioned that it was the old Spicks & Specks slot, to which he said “yeah, no pressure there”. Don’t go into it expecting Spicks & Specks but rather something fairly fresh coming onto our screens.
