Madam Tussauds immortalises ‘Harold Bishop’

Harold Bishop has been given the wax over by the newly-opened Madam Tussauds in Sydney.

He’s an institution in Australian TV and Harold Bishop has been given the wax over by Madam Tussauds, which opened earlier this week in Sydney.

Actor Ian Smith, who officially departed Neighbours in 2009, was measured for a sitting last year and after 800 hours of crafting, ‘Harold’ now takes his place under a Ramsay Street sign for all to see.

“I’ve told my wife Gail when I drop off the perch she can take this home,” joked Smith.

“This is absolutely incredible; I never anticipated my figure would look so real. The Madame Tussauds team has done such a great job, I’m actually a little lost for words. I see I’ll be in very good company here with Ray Meagher, Rove McManus, Dame Edna and Oprah – I don’t think we’ll be struggling for conversation that’s for sure.”

His wax model joins former Neighbours stars Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce and Delta Goodrem.

  1. Based on some of the advertising banners they have around Sydney, the depiction of Rove doesn’t seem quite as accurate, without having seen it in the flesh (wax?) of course.

Graham Kennedy is also featured, and it looks pretty realistic from the image.
