Rumour: The Block returns to Bondi?

Update: Could The Block be plotting a return to its original stomping ground ten years after it all began?

Last July TV Tonight gave the good oil that a South Melbourne property was set to become the next site for The Block.

That tip has since come true.

TV Tonight now hears whispers that the show could be returning to its original stomping ground of Bondi for 2013.

Nine were tight-lipped on the matter when quizzed on the next possible location.

The Sydney beachside ‘burb was the location for the breakout series in 2003 and having had two back to back seasons in Melbourne, the time may be right to return ten years later.

Tonight contestants will get to choose their preferred property -but this series also has a twist….

Update: Looks like Property Observer got there first with the news, pic is courtesy of their site. It notes three-bedroom semis  on a 260-square-metre holding close to the southern end of the coastal strip.

  1. @The Moops, yes a standard block in the area would be maybe 380m^2, so a semi would sit on 160m^2. Big blocks all in a line would mean Nine would need to pay big, big, big dollars for them because they’d be ripe for redevelopment.

  2. I noticed the “Made in Melbourne” sign is still in use. LoL
I’ve often noticed that articles in the Age & Herald Sun are always quick to notify their readership that a program is made in Melbourne, which always struck me as odd.

  3. I have lived in a semi detached cottage in Bondi since I was a child and these blocks sound very large to me. Bondi semis are in the main built on blocks of land the size of postage stamps, it has the second highest suburban population density in Australia. I might have to go on a ramble to see exactly where these houses are, it is not often that four houses in a row come up for sale like this.
