TEN in talks with Facebook

Good idea. TEN is reportedly in "advanced talks" to share content with Facebook.

TEN is reportedly in “advanced talks” to share content with Facebook.

If the deal comes off it would be one of James Warburton’s best moves since taking the reins as CEO.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports if the deal would see TEN being able to offer clients marketing opportunities on television and social media.

It already offers advertisers the ability to simultaneously book ads on Nova and Classic Rock radio, with DMG half owned by TEN chairman Lachlan Murdoch.

TEN could also integrate content for some of its biggest shows onto Facebook.

With Seven aligned with Yahoo, and recently launching Fango, and Nine aligned with MSN, the move would be seriously strategic for TEN at a time when social media is spearheading Reality TV.

At TEN’s results last week James Warburton said TEN was exploring a number of ”digital options” and that there would be an announcement soon.

UPDATE: AdNews reports Facebook has denied the existence of any special arrangements with TEN. The company said: “We engage with Channel TEN about Facebook products such as Pages, advertising and the Open Graph in the same way we engage with numerous other organisations across Australia. We are not aware of special commercial
arrangements negotiated with Channel TEN.”

  1. Ten had previews of the new episode of Offspring on Facebook a week before it premiers. Seems like a great way to drum up publicity if only because it will post an annoying status on your wall every time you use the Ten app
