Who doesn’t love a new Ricky Gervais comedy?

HBO-BBC co-production Life’s Too Short will premiere on ABC1 next month, featuring Warwick Davis playing a fictionalised version of himself in “the life of a showbiz dwarf.”

Guest stars across the series include Liam Neeson,Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Carell, Sting and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Life’s Too Short is a faux documentary starring actor Warwick Davis (the Harry Potter and Star Wars films) as a fictionalised version of himself desperately trying to hustle and connive his way back into the spotlight. Written, directed and executive produced by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the show features cameos by top stars, including Liam Neeson, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Cat Deeley, Steve Carell and Sting along with Gervais and Merchant playing themselves.

With his career on the slide, a massive tax bill caused by his useless accountant, and a wife who’s divorcing him, the showbiz actor has no choice but to open his doors to a film crew 24/7. Maybe living his life like an open wound will get him back on top?

In this first episode, Warwick seeks advice from old pals Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, but Liam Neeson has beaten him to it.

The film crew charts Warwick’s every move as he tries to maintain his pride and self respect in some very unusual situations.

9:05pm Wednesday June 13 on ABC1.
