On Demand on Foxtel

I keep forgetting about Foxtel's own catch-up service.

Foxtel’s On Demand catch-up service has been around for a while, but yesterday the Pay TV provider decided to send out some extra info on it, which is probably worth refreshing for those who rarely use it.

Australia’s largest catch up television service accesses hundreds of hours of programming to watch instantly.

The service is available to Foxtel customers who connect their internet-enabled Foxtel iQ or iQHD set-top-box to the internet.

Programs are free with your channel package.

Over 50 channels provide content each week including the latest episodes of Vampire Diaries, Hart Of Dixie, Swamp People, The Walking Dead, Sons Of Anarchy. Project Runway Allstars, The Fades, and coming soon are True Blood, Falling Skies, America’s Next Top Model, and Upstairs Downstairs.

Brendon Moo, General Manager of Foxtel On Demand said, “Foxtel provides its customers with the best entertainment experience possible, and now we’re providing even greater value for their subscription with the introduction of our multi-channel catch up service.

Catch up TV shows and movies will generally be available to download to a subscriber’s planner from midnight on the day of broadcast. Once in the planner, the program can be watched as many times as you like within a 28-day period. Once downloaded into the planner the “i” button will provide information on when a show will be deleted. Just press ‘On Demand’ on the remote and then select ‘By Channel’ to search, or alternatively browse any of the menus within On Demand.

Criteria to access Foxtel On Demand free catch up TV:
• Access to programs depends on a subscriber’s Channel Package
• Available to internet-connected Foxtel iQ and iQHD set top units only
• Call Foxtel on 131 999 or visit www.foxtel.com.au to activate the On Demand service
• ISP charges may apply (unmetered with BigPond broadband customers)
• Existing Foxtel subscription fees apply

  1. One thing they totally fail to tell you is that if you have an old IQ box (we got ours in 2006) it doesn’t work. You need one of the newer boxes.

I’m sure they’d replace my box (and maybe even for free), but I’m also sure there’s no way to transfer recorded programs from the old IQ to a new.

    1. There isn’t. I lost all my shows when I moved house and had to switch from satellite to cable. And then I lost the next batch again when the box had recording failures and they made me reset factory settings. The box is still failing to record some shows. Maybe if I blog on it it will miraculously get fixed…?

  2. I’ve been using the Foxtel Catchup service for about 2 months and it’s an excellent idea. I love being able to download movies, TV shows etc if I miss them (or they conflict with other recordings)

  3. The content on this use to be much better. For some reason they’ve dropped the Sunday premier movies from playing on it so I lost interest in it when they did. I check it from time to time but nothing that great comes on…
