Following the death of Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb announced earlier today, Arts channel STUDIO has scheduled a two-hour tribute tonight at 6.30pm.
There will be an encore performance on Sunday May 27 at 9.30pm.
The Bee Gees – One Night Only was recorded in 1997 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and was their first US concert in nearly 10 years.
It features Robin, his twin Maurice (who died in 2003) and Barry Gibb. In this concert, the Gibb brothers performed their greatest hits across four decades, from the 1960s to the 1990s. The One Night Only concert includes performances of many songs the Bee Gees wrote for other artists, but had not recorded themselves, including Islands in the Stream, Guilty and Heartbreaker.
They also sang a tribute song to their late brother Andy Gibb: Our Love (Don’t Throw it All Away) and during this song, footage of Andy is screened, including him singing the second verse.
Multiple Grammy winner Celine Dion guest stars for the Bee Gees’ song Immortality during the concert.
6:30pm Monday May 21 on STUDIO.
One Response
One of the great concerts of all time.
Love it when they do their melody of hits together using just the one microphone.
RIP Robin Gibb.
