Less golf planned for TEN

TEN is pulling out of golf's Australian Open tournaament, due to take place in December.

TEN is pulling out of golf’s Australian Open tournament, due to take place at The Lakes in Sydney in December.

”We just made a decision that we didn’t want to do it this year,” TEN’s head of sport, David Barham, told Fairfax newspapers.”We’re thinking about everything we do at the moment.”

TEN still has Australian PGA Championship at Coolum in mid-December and and two more years of the US Masters, but the retreat has left golf organisers hurrying to sort out naming-rights sponsorship.

Golf Australia’s chief executive, Stephen Pitt, said the negotiations were ongoing ”and we fully expect we will achieve a result that will be positive”.
