3AW morning presenter Neil Mitchell has signed with the Nine Network, set to become a commentator on Today, A Current Affair and Nine News.
Mitchell, whose 3AW show topped the latest ratings survey, was poached by Nine from Seven where he is a regular contributor to Sunrise.
“I was happy at Seven and they have been good to me, but this offer extends to several parts of the network and that’s what appealed to me,” he told the Herald Sun.
“We will see how it goes, but each of those programs offers a different style of commentary, a different style of issue and a different style of television.
Nine Network’s managing director Jeffrey Browne said, “We are thrilled to welcome Neil to the family, particularly at a time when the network’s news and current affairs programs are once again dominating the ratings right along the East Coast.”
Mitchell, who was recently critical of A Current Affair‘s saga with a former escort, has previously been with Nine including when he once hosted a short-lived Sunday programme.

It does look like money talks after all
@Media Guy – Neils Sunday talkback program aired on both Nine & Ten.
Oh great; Nine has it’s own Andrew Bolt! Then again he’s no “Angry Ant” (Steve Price). Can’t wait for Piers Ackerman & Miranda Devine to do KAK’s old gig. Look out Sonia & David the looney Right’s moving in!!
Mitchell will soon be working for John Singleton’s Macquarie Radio Network (after Gina sells the Fairfax stations to Mr S…)
Is Mark Latham still Channel Nine’s “political expert”?
Neil Mitchell (who? I’m in NSW), Alan Jones, Ray Hadley.
That reminds me why I don;t watch Today or Sunrise anymore, now that there’s ABC B’fast.
As a regular Sunrise viewer, i am ok with this. Neil was ok but i was starting to get a bit fatigued and bored by his predictability. This is good as it gives Sunrise a chance to get some fresh talent.
Isn’t Nine still paying Ray Hadley a fortune to contribute to Today?
I think you’ll find that the “talk back” Sunday afternoon TV show was on TEN, not Nine.
Thanks, noted!
