    1. I do what I can to liaise between viewers and networks and I do appreciate it when they respond. There have been very few opportunities for this kind of dialogue to exist, traditionally viewers have had a hell of a time getting answers.

  1. Guy, FOX Sports responds:

In relation to match scheduling – The French Tennis Federation offers one signal to international broadcasters and match selection is at their discretion. FOX Sports is able to request various matches, but has no power over the final ruling on which matches are broadcast via the ‘international super signal’ we receive.

With this being the case FOX Sports negotiated the establishment of an additional feed from Roland Garros for matches featuring key Australian players, which allowed us to cover matches featuring Sam Stosur (including her 2nd round match) and Bernard Tomic which weren’t included on the world feed. These matches were provided on a separate channel to the world feed coverage.

Regarding the Live bug issue – because we are receiving a Live feed from the French broadcasters, the Live bug is applied to the coverage – however, this bug is removed if it is communicated by the host broadcaster to our pres coordinator that the coverage featured is not Live. FOX Sports is not aware of this occurring during the 2012 French Open but have commenced an investigation.

  2. @Guy, they did show Sam’s 2nd rounder, they put it on another channel, the one they missed was the 4th rounder against Sloane Stephens.

But yeah, the coverage has been awful and fairly lazy, shows only centre court, barely keeps updates of other courts and yeah last couple of days they shown matches delayed and still called it live such as the Fed/Del potro match. Then there is awful commentary, Masue the only decent one out of the bunch.

I never understood why Fox don’t send anyone up there unlike the US Open where they actually have a host and go between the different matches when then is an Australian playing etc.

  3. What a bummer FTA hasn’t managed to show any of the French Open … being a Grand Slam tournament, and the only one (I think?) that isn’t covered. All of the others seem to receive massive support. I may be cynical but would it be because Australian players have historically fared better in the Grand Slams that are non-French?

  4. I must say Foxtel’s coverage has been mediocre at best. They have failed to show several Aussie matches including the 2nd round match with Stosur live. Instead 99% of the coverage has been centre court and centre court only Live. Then they have the decency to keep the Live and Exclusive Fox Sports logo in the right hand corner when they replayed matches that were on earlier in the day. That is imo a breach of the rules and i have sent in a complaint about it. Its false advertising.

As for Nine well you all know how i feel about them so say no more.

  5. Guys, from the official open website…

    Not Before:2:00 PM
    Women’s Singles – Semifinals
    Samantha Stosur(AUS)[6]
    vs.
    Sara Errani(ITA)[21]

    Women’s Singles – Semifinals
    Petra Kvitova(CZE)[4]
    vs.
    Maria Sharapova(RUS)[2]

  6. Sam’s next match will be tomorrow night, not Friday night. Foxtel’s coverage hasn’t been that great but it’s much better having live tennis than nothing at all.

  7. a shame i don’t have Foxtel at home, cause i wanted to watch the French Open this year, and watch Sam Stousar’s progress.

As for Nine, it is a shame that they don’t have proper exclusive FTA rights this year, but i guess, i am happy enough that they do have a ”highlights reel” airing at around midnight each night. Better than nothing, i guess
