The early evening double of The Block and 60 Minutes drummed up big business for Nine last night but it lost momentum from 8:30pm against Downton Abbey.
The Block hit another season high with an impressive 1.8m viewers, thumping Dancing with the Stars (1.17m viewers) and Modern Family / New Girl (790,000 / 643,000).
But it was Seven that again won the night thanks to Seven News (1.55m), Downton Abbey (1.5m) and Castle (638,000 / 341,000).
Nine News (1.64m) and 60 Minutes (1.45m) both won their slot, but The Mentalist (878,000) and Unforgettable (405,000) trailed Seven.
MasterChef Australia in second place in its timeslot was still enjoying healthy numbers on 1.33m, validating its return to Mystery Boxes on Sundays. TEN News was 527,000, Touch slumped to 490,000 and The Project was 400,000. MotoGP Live was 279,000  on TEN and 63,000 on ONE.
ABC News pulled 866,000 on ABC1 then How to Grow a Planet (699,000), The Eye of the Storm (456,000), Compass (340,000) and Auction Room (260,000). Late night coverage of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee averaged 220,000 on ABC1 and 101,000 on ABC News 24.
World News Australia (236,000) was best for SBS ONE with Prophets of Science Fiction on 234,000 and Dino Gangs on 156,000.
The top rated show on multichannels for Sunday was yesterday morning’s Bananas in Pyjamas on 286,000.

@ Travis, I stated a fact as well.
Danny, gg stated a fact.
@ gg, your argument also fails. You could say 21 million Australians didn’t watch “The Block”.
@ ryan, I couldn’t agree with you more 🙂
Has anyone else noticed the change in Ten news? Like they have gone hd or something??
@Ryan – Thank you very much for your considered and constructive thoughts!
Obviously 1.8 million Block viewers don’t agree with you.
Theblock is the biggest pile of crap on tv!
Touch is the second biggest pile of crap on tv!
We now need to say farewell to Touch in the prime Sunday slot. For the remaining eps Ten needs to show them either Mondays or Tuesdays at 9.30
