First George W. Bush in Game of Thrones, now Barack Obama in True Blood…

Minor Spoiler: Not long after conceding it had George W. Bush’s head on a stick in Game of Thrones, HBO now depicts Barack Obama’s likeness in True Blood -but this time it’s deliberate.

The scene, which will air on Showcase this Sunday in Australia, sees a group of masked thugs wearing Obama masks -not dissimilar to 1991′s Point Break where bank robbers wore presidential masks in during a heist.

Costume supplier Costume Craze says,“True Blood’s production team purchased several Obama masks from us earlier this year, and we’ve been waiting in suspense for them to appear.”

But an HBO spokesperson told Deadline the timing of the True Blood and Game of Thrones presidential faces wasn’t political or linked.

“It’s a complete and utter coincidence and one show has nothing to do with other,” they said.
